It can be difficult to create fine details in plush toys, but The Last Unicorn by ~melkatsa shows that it is possible! The skinny legs, long neck and cute horn make this one really stand out.

Description

Roughly 15 inches x 10 inches x 4 inches
Made with microplush, faux fur, faux suede, cotton, thread, felt, plastic safety eyes, polyfil stuffing, fleece, sand (for weight), and metal wire

----

The unicorn stood still at the edge of the forest and said aloud, "I am the only unicorn there is." They were the first words she had spoken, even to herself, in more than a hundred years.

... suppose they are hiding together, somewhere far away? What if they are hiding and waiting for me?

- The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle

One of my pieces for The Last Unicorn Art Show! Both the book and the movie were among my favorites growing up, so when I heard about this show I jumped at the chance to be a part of it.

This is definitely one of the most complex and difficult plush projects I've ever done. She has a fleece-wrapped wire skeleton that allows her neck, legs, and tail to be posed, so she's more of a soft sculpture than an actual plush toy. In my original sketch the elongation of her head, the size of her ears, and the thinness of her legs were much more exaggerated, but I think she came out all right :)

Thank you =prosaix and `MyntKat for the Daily Deviation! The response to this piece has been and continues to be amazing. Thank you all for your comments. I'm happy to hear that so many of us share a love for this character and her story!
